Magazine Submissions

LOK is available on the newsstands approximately the first week of February, April, September and November. In 2011, there will be a fall Holiday LOK featuring knitted gift items for the holidays.

Submissions are reviewed with notification approximately six months ahead of the magazine season in which the design will be featured. All designs should be suitable in color and yarns to the season for which the design is submitted. Designs for men, women, children, accessories and home dec are all accepted with men and home dec especially welcomed.

Designs and patterns should be original and photos and/or drawings are acceptable. Some projects are accepted “as knit” but all yarn must be currently available in the marketplace. Yarn may also be ordered by LOK for accepted projects.

Designers must be proficient in pattern writing. After design acceptance, an LOK style sheet will be sent and patterns must conform to this style sheet. All designs and patterns will be edited for technical acceptance before inclusion in the magazine.

Contracts will be sent upon design acceptance. All projects are rented with patterns becoming the property of Love of Knitting. It is at the discretion of LOK as to when and where the design will appear in the newsstand publication, or on any electronic
site owned by LOK. The projects are returned after publication and checks are mailed at that time.
