Holiday Honeycomb: Free Knitting Pattern

A simple honeycomb braid accents the back of these cuddly fingerless gloves. The long ribbing at the wrist keeps your hands and arms warm while keeping your fingers free. This free knitting pattern will be available for download when the Winter Issue hits newsstands on December 4th.

Response to question
Thanks so much for your interest in this fun pattern! When the instructions say to "continue as set" this means that you will continue working WS rows as p3, work next row of elongated chain cable stitch pattern, p17 and RS rows as k17, work next row of elongated chain cable stitch pattern, k3. So, for row 3 of the stitch pattern (a WS row) you will p3, work row 3 of the stitch pattern, then p17, and this will add up to 34 sts. You will continue in this way until you have repeated rows 1-12 of the stitch pattern 2 times to create the 2 honeycomb cables on the mitts. I hope this helps, but please email me at mail@loveofknitting.com if you have any other questions. Happy knitting!
Newbie Knitter needs help with this pattern!
Hello! Am starting with the R glove, and am confused with the math...I know I have 34 stitches on my needle, but when I'm to work Row 4 & 6, even if I repeat the P3, K8, P3 twice, that still only comes to 28 stitches....what am I missing? Same for R 10 & 12?
Response to questions
Hi, and thank you so much for your questions! Each repeat of the stitch pattern will give you one circular honeycomb design, so you will need to repeat it two times to get the look in the photo. Also, we have reviewed the pattern the the left and right mitts and are not aware of any errors, but we are happy to help if you have additional questions! Please email us at mail@loveofknitting.com and we will be glad to clarify. Happy knitting!
My Right Mitt
I just finished the Right Mitt, the one I needed! I fits my left hand, if the thumb space is supposed to be in the seam!
Number of Patterns
The pattern says to do the pattern once, and then 2 repeats, and yet your picture shows only one repeat. Did you really mean only one repeat?
Pattern Corrected
Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We have corrected the pattern. You can now download the revised version. We're sorry for any frustration this may have caused you. If you have any more comments or questions, please email us at info@loveofknitting.com.
pattern still has error
Your pattern is still in error. It is current written so the left and right mitten have a different cable. Your RIGHT mitten should have the cable needle held in front where it says in back and held in back where it say front-- this will result in matching mittens.
I love the pattern, however the cables are different on the two gloves.
