I love the look of this design! There’s something so pretty about the graceful flow of symmetrical diamonds. Because this pattern uses a combination of knit and purl stitches, even beginners can learn how to do it. Here’s a close up of the pattern.

It does require a bit of concentration at first. When I started the stitch pattern, I was watching an episode of Downton Abbey, and I kept losing track of my stitches. Multitasking can be overrated, sometimes, don’t you think? So I clicked off the TV and focused on knitting.

It definitely became easier over time. As the design progressed, what stitches should come next became more obvious just by looking at whether the diamonds were opening or closing at any given point. It was fun to see the design take shape. I didn’t want to put my knitting needles down and kept thinking, “Just one more row…”

I would love to learn this but keep messing up purling.

I’m on the seventh row and it doesn’t come out right. There isn’t enough stitches in the pattern to match the ones on the needle. I’m having troublute trying to figure out were to put them.

Hi Marty. I’m sorry you are having difficulty. I’ve knit the pattern myself, so I know there are no errors. Are you losing count of your stitches somewhere? It took me a couple tries to get into the flow. Good luck!
