Today marks the first day of our newest knit along! We invite you to join us and knit the stunning Shangri-La Scarf from our Spring Issue. This pattern features a beautiful soft yarn by Bijou Basin Ranch made of silk and yak. It forms an elegant lace pattern with amazing drape. The scarf was designed by Marly Bird — she is super talented and so much fun. You can always count on her to create something new and exciting.
I gathered all the materials and cast on my first 55 stitches. Over the coming weeks, I’ll post updates and share photos of the scarf as it takes shape. If you’re interested in knitting one too, jump on board! You can leave comments on our blog and share your own photos with us (email us at info@loveofknitting.com). We hope this fun project will inspire you!

Does this KAL have a group on Ravelry?
Hi Joanne, we don’t have a group on Ravelry yet, but that’s something we’ll keep in mind for the future! Thanks for your interest.
Hi all! We are more than happy to host you in the Bijou Basin Ranch Ravelry group! After you’ve shared your progress, here, please stop by and say hello! We started a thread right here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/bijou-basin-ranch-fan-club/topics/2505084
Happy knitting!
Perfect! Thank you for starting a thread for the knit along. We’ll link to this in future blog posts as well.
I would like to join this knit along… Is there anything special I have to do before starting?
Thank You
Susan
Hi Susan! There isn’t anything special you need to do — no sign up required. You will need the materials listed in the pattern (on page 40 of our Spring Issue) — such as yarn and knitting needles, but other than that you should be good to go. If you haven’t purchased the Spring Issue you can order one here: http://www.quiltandsewshop.com/category/s?keyword=lok10213
Thanks again!
i am knitting a kirsten kapur shawl with this very same yarn … i love it! wish i had time for the scarf, too.
I’d like to see a Ravelry group for this….it’s easier to keep track on there, plus posting pictures.
Love this pattern and I have the magazine……… and I have some yarn…….but I have 3 projects on the needles now so it will have to wait
Okay… 55 stitches….. and then?
What’s the repeat? Could it “grow” to become a shawl? A really simple yet beautiful pattern.
Hi Carolyn, great question. The pattern includes 3 sizes (small, medium, and large), but you could also customize it to make the scarf even wider if you like to become a shawl. It’s a 10 stitch repeat. You can find all the details on page 40 of our Spring Issue.
If I subscribed to the magazine today, would I receive the Spring Issue as my first issue? (Yes, I understand I have to wait 6-8 weeks for it to arrive.)
Hi Jade. As someone who works in the editorial department, I can’t answer your question with any certainty. I’d ask subscriber services instead. You can find them here: https://ssl.palmcoastd.com/pcd/apps/index.cfm?iMagId=05906&iPage=SPLASH&iXz=801DA168E98F19C9B930CF56CBD58189
